Defend the Hive

Bee Island is a base-building strategy game where you run a bee hive and hold it against waves of enemies. Enemies attack from time to time, dropping bombs, spraying poison and launching rockets, and each wave will be stronger than the last. Your job is to build ballistae, machine guns, anti-aircraft missile launchers and other defenses to keep them off the hive. The queen is the one thing you cannot afford to lose, so everything you build exists to keep her safe. The game runs in an isometric 3D view with a clean, colorful look that keeps the action readable.

Grow the Colony and Its Industry

Defense alone will not hold. The queen needs more workers and warriors, so you build kindergartens, schools and military bases to grow new bees that benefit the hive. On the economy side, there are 7 types of resources to manage, and some of them only come from factories. You build honeycombs and place buildings on them to expand your production. Research is the other half of the loop: new technologies and buildings let you keep pace with the enemies, and which ones you pick shapes how the run plays out. You decide whether you end the war through peace or through the destruction of all enemies, and nuclear weapons are on the table if things get desperate.

Playing Together

Bee Island can be played solo or in online co-op with friends. In co-op you take control of the hive together, splitting the work between building defenses, running the economy and researching technologies. Coordination matters, since someone has to keep the factories producing while others keep the defenses manned during an attack. Agree early on which technologies to chase and where the defenses go, so the hive does not end up with gaps when the waves get harder.

Before You Start

Expect a steady escalation: enemies keep getting stronger, so a setup that works early will need upgrades and new defenses later. Resource management runs alongside the combat, so leaving the honeycombs and factories idle will slow down everything else. The game carries tags for tower defense, RTS and colony sim, which is a fair summary of the mix you are taking on. There is also a relaxation mode if you want to build without the pressure of the attacks.
