Fighting through the underground networks

Banzai Escape 2: Subterranean is an anime-style third-person shooter with looting at its core. You play an Elite Imingter agent, one of the clone sisters, sent into the tunnels below to clear out threats and finish missions. The Draugr labs have been captured by SPECTRE, so Inchester, Imingter and Iekler have moved their refugees deep underground, and the dungeon networks are now occupied by the Lanun along with SPECTRE and other factions. Expect constant action: enemies push aggressively and you are usually in the middle of a firefight rather than walking between fights.

Playing together in co-op

The game runs in single-player or in two-player co-op, so you can bring one friend into the tunnels with you. You take on the same objectives side by side, splitting the enemy pressure between two guns and covering each other while pushing toward the goal. With only two players and aggressive enemies, keeping close and coordinating who handles what keeps the pace up through a run.

Random maps and random loot

Levels are built from randomly generated map segments, so the route you take toward an objective area can change between runs. Loot follows the same idea: guns and power-ups are randomly generated, which gives you a reason to keep grinding for better drops. The arsenal runs deep, with a large pool of nano-plugin addons that add skills and random stats to your build, so two runs rarely hand you the same setup.

Before you start

Character customization is on offer, with plenty of costume and skin options to change how your character looks. Expect a linear structure with missions to complete, dressed in a futuristic military setting with anime styling. The single-player run and the co-op run share the same chaotic, intense combat, so pick whichever suits your group — solo if you want to grind alone, co-op if you want a partner in the tunnels.
