A sandbox world where players run the economy

Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG set in an open medieval fantasy world. Nearly every item is crafted by players in player-built structures, from resources that other players gathered, so the markets depend on what your server actually produces. Gathering, crafting and trading are as much a part of the game as fighting. You can claim a city plot or a private island, grow crops, raise livestock and mounts, place crafting stations that other players pay to use, store loot in chests, and hire laborers to keep the place running. The world itself is split into five biomes with their own challenges, plus fishing, randomly generated solo and group dungeons, and the Roads of Avalon, where paths between distant zones keep changing.

Playing together as a group

There are no fixed classes. Your weapon and armor choices define your skills, so switching playstyle is just a matter of switching gear, and your group can cover different roles without anyone rerolling. Combat runs from solo encounters to small-group fights to large-scale open-world battles, all of which need tactics and coordinated builds with complementary skills. Join a guild and you can claim territories for access to resources, construct guild halls, and build a Hideout as a home base deep in dangerous land. Guilds compete in the Crystal League and track their standing on a seasonal leaderboard. For shorter shared runs, there are solo and group Expeditions, plus Hellgates and Corrupted Dungeons where you face demons and other players at once.

What to know before you start

Fights against other adventurers are full-loot: you lose what you carry when you die, so decide as a group what gear is worth risking before you push into dangerous zones. The economy is player-driven end to end, which means gathering and crafting feed directly into your group's wealth and equipment. Six factions of NPC enemies each need a different approach, so learning their patterns pays off in dungeons and faction bases. One account covers Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS, so everyone in your group can play on whatever device they have and still meet up in the same world.
