What Adventures of Shuggy is

Adventures of Shuggy is a 2D puzzle platformer about a little guy who has just inherited a castle packed with goblins, ghouls, zombies, and robots. The job is simple to say: clear out over 100 rooms so the place is liveable again. Each room is its own self-contained puzzle, and the castle is split into distinct areas — the Dungeon, Boiler Room, Clocktower, Gallery, and Graveyard — each with its own boss to outwit.

The twist is that the rules keep changing. Shuggy can fly, float, swing, spin, change size, and travel through time, and the game introduces these abilities gradually so you learn one idea before the next one arrives. Grabbing all the gems in a room is the usual goal, but getting them is rarely a straight run from left to right.

Playing it together

The co-op mode is built around 36 two-player levels that cannot be finished alone. They are designed so that both players have to think and act in coordination — one person's move only works if the other is in the right place at the right time. This is offline local co-op, so two people share the screen and talk it through as they go.

Remote Play Together is also supported, which lets someone join in over a connection rather than sitting at the same machine. Either way, the co-op levels are a separate set from the single-player rooms, so a group can dip into them for a session without needing to work through the whole castle first.

Mechanics worth knowing before you start

Several mechanics show up repeatedly and are worth understanding early. Time loops put you alongside echoes of your own past actions, so you cooperate with yourself across time. Level rotation lets you spin whole rooms or interlocking sections to reach gems that were never accessible from the starting orientation. Teleporters move Shuggy across a room, and the "Shuggy's Teleporting Troubles" level pack adds 40 single-player levels built around double teleporters combined with rotation, zombie Shuggy, floaty jump, rope swinging, and multi-Shuggy.

Gravity affects multiple Shuggys differently, and the magic rope lets you swing across gaps. The map screen is non-linear, with several routes through the castle, so if one area stalls you can head somewhere else and come back later. Boss encounters in each area ask for timing and observation rather than brute force.
