What Windjammers 2 is
Windjammers 2 is a flying disc game and the sequel to the NEOGEO cult classic Windjammers. You throw discs at opponents across a jammin' court, trying to score while the pace stays fast and the reads stay sharp. It mixes what worked in the original with new mechanics: slapshot, dropshot, jump, smash and powerful super moves. The whole thing is drawn by hand in 2D, with a soundtrack pulled straight out of the '90s. It's easy to pick up and hard to get good at, which is where the strategy comes in — you're choosing angles, timing your throws and reading what the other player will do next.
Playing it with your group
The game supports local and online multiplayer with full crossplay, so your group can mix people on different setups. Private lobbies let you set up your own matches, and spectator mode means anyone who's out can still watch the rest play. Remote Play Together is also available for sharing a session. On the roster you'll find returning names like Steve Miller, Gary Scott, Jordi Costa, Loris Biaggi, Klaus Wessel and Hiromi Mita alongside newcomers such as Sophie De Lys, Max Hurricane, Jao Raposa, Sammy Ho, Jamma GX03 and Anna Szalinski. Each one plays differently — some are fast with tricky curve shots, some are slow but hit brutally hard — so picking characters against each other is half the fun of a group session.
Before you start
There's an Arcade mode for solo play where you work through championships, and a training mode with dedicated lessons and a customizable training course if you want to practice the moves before facing your friends. Expect a learning curve: the game is tagged as difficult, and the newer mechanics like the smash and super moves take time to land consistently. The stages and characters vary in feel, so it's worth trying a few before settling on a main.
