What Splendor is
Splendor is the digital version of the Renaissance trading board game. You play as a merchant building a gem business: you collect resources, buy cards for mines, transport and artisans, and turn raw gems into finished jewelry. Cards you own keep paying gem bonuses, which makes later purchases cheaper. Nobles visit players who meet their requirements and add prestige points. The first player to reach the set prestige total wins. The app keeps the original card art and the Renaissance look and sound, and it includes a three-minute interactive tutorial that walks through both the rules and the interface.
Playing with your group
Online multiplayer runs for 2 to 4 players, so a group can sit down together over a match. If you are all in the same room, pass & play lets you share one screen. Remote Play Together is also supported, which means one person can host and the rest join in. For practice or when nobody is available, there is a solo mode, and several AI opponents are built in. The AI is designed around distinct strategy behaviors rather than easy, medium and hard labels, so you can face different styles of play.
Before you start
Challenges are an extra mode on top of the standard game. Each one is built on a real event or anecdote from the 15th and 16th centuries, set in a specific place, and gives you a goal such as earning a set number of points or collecting a particular card combination within a time or move limit. They teach advanced techniques and rule variants, and there are 48 of them across trading routes like Madrid and St. Petersburg, including duels against figures such as Charles V and Marie Stuart.
Connecting a Days of Wonder account unlocks the achievements board, worldwide leaderboards and the rank system. Two expansions, The Cities and The Strongholds, extend the base game. The app is available in English, French and German.
