Raiding in bunny form
RABBIT & STEEL is a co-op action roguelike that takes the feel of high-level MMO raiding and shrinks it down into a short, randomized run. You pick a class, gather your rabbit-eared friends, and fight your way toward the Moonlit Pinnacle. Combat works like tab-target MMORPG play: global cooldowns, deliberate skill usage, gear effects, and boss mechanics that need to be solved together rather than brute-forced. It is a roguelike, not an MMO, so each run starts fresh and the layout and loot change as you go. The story sets the scene: contact with the Moonlit Kingdom was lost a few months ago, its denizens attack outsiders on sight, and a colossal white tower appears in the city center each night. The rabbits are going in to find out why, and the night is short.
Playing together
Anywhere from 1 to 4 rabbits can head out on a run. You can play locally, online, or mix the two, so a group split across places can still raid in one lobby. Start a run, pick a class, invite friends, and you are into the fight quickly. Bosses come with mechanics that normally demand cooperation, and clearing them is a matter of calling things out and reacting as a group. Loot is shared from a pool of over 100 random items, and certain item sets combo well together, so watch what your allies pick up. If someone rolls on the Darkstorm Knife you needed, that is on them. One warning: a "spread" marker can be clipped onto a friend, and doing so kills them. Handy for laughs, less handy for the run.
Before you start
Going solo is supported, but the design shifts when you do: mechanics that would normally require cooperation are replaced with intense bullet-hell attacks instead. Expect a difficult game with challenging bosses, bullet-hell patterns, and stages that punish sloppy play. The single player story campaign lets you chat with enemies to uncover the mystery of the Moonlit Kingdom. You can play with keyboard, mouse and keyboard, or a controller, so pick whatever feels right before the first pull.
