A Paper Roguelike Adventure
Paper Animal Adventure is a cute roguelike where you explore a colorful world, fight scary enemies, and try to seal the timelines and find the missing king. The village lost its kind ruler, so a group of brave adventurers sets out to find him. The maps are procedurally generated, so each run lays out new paths and encounters. It draws inspiration from Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, and the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, with pixel graphics and a fantasy setting.
Building Your Adventurer
You pick from 10 adorable characters, each specializing in power, utility, or defense. Along the way you collect consumable items, equip and upgrade skills that fit your character's role, and find stickers that grant passive abilities. Rarer holographic stickers offer stronger effects. Once you steal a cookpot from an enemy camp, you can combine consumables in it and experiment with the results to see what comes out.
Runs, Bosses, and Difficulty
Bosses have an alternative, stronger version that appears when you start a Rewind Run. If the game feels too easy or too hard, there are 6 different difficulty settings to tune the challenge. Numerous unlockable achievements push you to explore all aspects of the game.
Playing Together
The Steam features list Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a connection. The store text also mentions relaxing with friends at the campfire, and it tags the game with Asynchronous Multiplayer alongside Singleplayer. The campfire is where the group unwinds between the fighting and exploring.
