What the game is
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM 2 is a 3D fighter built around the Naruto Shippuden story arc. You fight in arena-style battles with a roster of characters drawn from the anime, and the game has been remastered in HD. Alongside the fighting, the game follows the Shippuden storyline, so a good chunk of your time goes into the story mode rather than matches alone. Battles use a system where you pick companions to fight alongside you, and together you can unleash Team Special Techniques to take down opponents. Choosing the right companions matters, since the fight plays out differently depending on who you bring.
Playing it with friends
The Steam version supports Remote Play Together, which lets someone join your session over the internet as if they were sitting next to you. That means one person owns the game and the rest can tag along for the fights without needing their own copy. It suits a group that wants to trade rounds, watch each other's story progress, or just run matches together. Since the core of the game is one-on-one fighting with companions backing you up, sessions work best when people take turns at the controls or pair off against each other.
Before you start
Go in expecting a mix of story and combat rather than a pure versus game. The story mode walks you through the Shippuden arc, so if you haven't watched that far, expect to see plot events before you get to them. The battle system with companions and Team Special Techniques is the thing to learn first: pick your team deliberately and use the specials when they matter, instead of mashing through fights. If you're setting up Remote Play Together, have the host start the session and get everyone connected before jumping into a long story stretch, so nobody is waiting through cutscenes.
