Real-Time Chess Without Turns
Hyper Chess takes the classic board and removes the turn structure entirely. Both players move their pieces at the same time, so the game plays out in real time rather than in alternating moves. Every move costs mana, and mana regenerates each second, which sets the pace of a match. You can spend mana in bursts to push a four-piece attack, or move a single piece at a time to keep pressure on your opponent. Matches can run as short as 10 seconds or stretch to 10 minutes depending on how the game unfolds. The goal stays the same: protect your King and take theirs before they take yours.
Playing Together
Hyper Chess supports local and online multiplayer, so a group can play in the same room or over the internet. Online PvP lets you match up against other players remotely, and Remote Play Together lets someone join your session from their own setup. The game also supports local multiplayer for shared-screen play. Several unique game modes are available to change up how a match runs, so a group can rotate through different setups instead of repeating the same rules.
Before You Start
The real-time structure means there is no waiting for your turn, and a match can end quickly if you lose track of your King. Mana management matters as much as positioning: spend too fast and you stall out, hold too long and your opponent gains ground. The game carries a retro 1980s look with 3D pieces, and over a dozen chess sets are available to collect. Familiarity with standard chess helps, but the simultaneous movement changes how you read the board, so expect the timing to feel different from a traditional match.
