What Dinotica is
Dinotica is a sandbox roguelite set in a dense jungle where you start with little more than your own wits and the creatures you befriend. The world is mysterious and dangerous, and the loop keeps circling back to the same three verbs: fight, build, farm. You explore outward from your settlement, gather resources, unlock new technologies, and push deeper into places where the enemies get noticeably tougher. Progress shows up in two places at once — the strength of your team of companions and the size and shape of the home you're making for them.
Building a team of companions
A big part of the game is finding, taming, and collecting creatures out in the world. Once they're yours, they work alongside you rather than sitting in a menu: some fight, some tend crops, some haul or harvest. As your settlement grows you can breed different creatures together to produce stronger companions with a wider spread of abilities, which lets you assemble a team suited to whatever you're doing that day — a farming crew, a raiding party, or a mix of both. Training matters too. Take your strongest fighters into the deeper parts of the jungle and develop their skills so they can handle the more dangerous enemies that live there.
Making the settlement yours
The base side of Dinotica is open-ended. You lay down beds for your companions to sleep in, put up decorations, and design the layout however you like, expanding from a rough camp into a full settlement. Farming is a shared job: you and your dinosaurs plant, water, fertilize, and harvest together, so a working farm is something you build up over time rather than something that runs itself. Resources you gather feed back into new technologies, which in turn open up more building and crafting options.
Playing with friends
Dinotica supports Remote Play Together, so one person who owns the game can bring others in to stomp around the same world. The whole design leans into that — fighting, building, and farming are framed as things you do hand-in-hand with your companions and, by extension, with whoever else is in the session with you. Expect a top-down view with action-RPG combat, roguelite runs into the jungle, and stretches of quieter base management in between.
