What Blazing Sails is

Blazing Sails is a first-person pirate game where crews fight each other on land and at sea. You build your own pirate and your own ship, then take them into matches against other players. Fights happen both on deck and on islands, so you swap between shooting, swordplay and sailing within the same round. The game runs on online co-op and online PvP, so you are always playing alongside or against real crews.

How your group plays together

You band together as a crew and share the work of running a ship. Someone steers, someone repairs damage, someone handles resupply, and everyone fights when you close on an enemy. Communication and cooperation are what win matches, so a group that talks through each move has a clear edge. Ship size sets the crew size: the Sloop is built for two players, while the Brigantine, Junk Ship and Bomb Vessel are four-player ships. The Sloop is small but can hold its own against those larger vessels.

Game modes to pick from

Treasure Hunt sends your crew across islands hunting for treasure chests, which you carry back to one of the two outposts at the centre of the map and trade for gold. The crew with the most gold wins. Battle Royale mixes fighting on foot with ship-to-ship battles, and the goal is to sink every other crew. Galleon Conquest drops the looting and puts you straight into broadside fights aboard a huge Galleon, where you frag pirates, sink ships and capture flags to score.

Ships and weapons

Each ship plays differently. The Brigantine takes a pounding and hits hard. The Junk Ship is smaller and faster with a front-facing cannon for head-on charges. The Bomb Vessel uses a mortar cannon that works best at long range. Weapons change how you fight too: a sharpshooter from the crow's nest, the life-stealing Sword of the Sea for boarding actions, a shoulder-cannon, or a fish-launcher. What you plunder shapes your playstyle round to round.

Before you start

Expect a competitive, fast-paced session where sailing and shooting matter equally. Customisation covers parts, clothing and accessories for both pirate and ship, so your crew can look distinct without affecting how the ship handles. Match length and pacing depend on the mode you choose, so pick Treasure Hunt for a longer objective run or Galleon Conquest when you want constant combat.
